Players are only able to kill TDs if they have completed While Guthix Sleeps; you need 275 qps.
TDs are located under Lumbridge, The Ancient Guthix temple.
This was the location of the final battle to the quest, While Guthix Sleeps, for reference to getting there.
It takes typically under 3 minutes to reach this chamber from lumbridge spawn.

TDs use all 3 angles of the combat triangle, each hitting a max of only 26!

Descriptions:
Mage- The TD throws his face forward and a small flame comes out.
Range- The TD breaks a peice of himself and throws the bone type object.
Melee- Much like a Dragon claw attack, the TD slashes you.

If you have troubles switching prayers according to attack type, use the sound effects to easily distinguish attacks.
Most of the time TD's attacks are easy to predict and therefore you can easily take 0 damage when you become familiar to them.
TDs should never hit you more than once before you swap prayers.
A freshly spawned TD always uses magic as it's first attack.

Tormented attack; this happens when the demon shakes for a few seconds then releases a mage and normal attack. Always use protect from mage when this happens because you will block at least one of the attacks. It is also easy to tell what attack style he will switch to, because it is most likely the one he has used least recently.

If you do not have a protection prayer on the TD will not switch attack styles.

prayer
TDs have use of all 3 protection prayers, as well as infinite prayer.
A freshly spawned TD will always have protection from melee as it's default prayer.
Keep an eye of the damage splat and be ready to swap your weapon/pray as soon he changes his prayer.
Be careful when using special attacks, so you do not waste it when he swaps pray or his shield becomes active again.

(no shield)A tormented demon switches his prayer, accordingly, when:
-31+ damage has been dealt by an attack style
-31+ damage is dealt on a first strike
-30 damage is dealt on the first strike, then 0 or more on the next strike
-28 to 29 damage is dealt on the first strike, then any damage on the next strike
-26 to 30 damage is dealt on the first strike, then 0 damage is dealt on up to 3 concurrent strikes
-Several unsuccessful attacks of one type
These are not 100% accurate, but to my best observations

If the TD has his shield, then you need his protect from melee deactivated.
Typically any hit 10+ with it's shield on with cause it to swap prayers,
though it may swap it's prayer with lower hits or several unsuccessful hits.

Unlike the KQ, the Godsword and Veracs DO NOT do damage through TD's prayers.

getting the 9000+ defence bonus down:scratch:
In order to damage a TD to a weapons full effect, you must take the power of Lucien out of the demon.
Darklight is the only known weapon able to do this. (This is obtained during the quest: Shadow of the Storm)
Any damage done to the demon by Darklight will remove luciens power for 1 minute. you must hit at least a 0.1 to remove shield.

You first must deal damage with range to make the TD vulnerable to melee; and your Darklight.
Your goal when power killing, is to kill the demon before Lucien's power regenerates within it; within 1 minute.
With it's shield active no weapon will do over 20 damage, and in addition, is VERY inaccurate.
Only consider killing it in this state if it is red barred.

Efficient/power killing

When you are going for a 33m drop, supplies shouldn't matter much;
the faster the kills the more you will get, and the better chance you have for a drop:
