I think most of you have heard of the 'Dragon dart + 1 item trick'. However, there are two different ways you can still lose your item
1. If you are in multi, you can be speared and killed by someone else; or you can just get 1 hit
2. Killed by farcast barrage in single before you can throw your dart
So, what you should look for in a spot is (1) single and (2) is enclosed (3) easy to get to, and (4) close to a bank.

Bring a knife, a dragon dart and your item (I use a black cav)
Just south of edge bank, there is a lever, which brings you too..
A few minimaps to the west of this is mage bank, and past that is the house.
FAQ
1Q. Should I bring food, or anti poison?
1A. No, many types of food, and anti poisons will protect over your item. Do not bring anything besides your knife, dart and item.
2Q. What items can I use?
2A. There are probably at least 50 you can use, but heres some ideas:
